Travis Alabanza is an award winning theatre maker, performance artist and writer based in London. Their combination of performance, writing, style and political voice in the last four years has brought them across the UK and Internationally with their work. Their work has spanned venues and publications such as Vogue, BBC, The Guardian, Independent and has performed at places such as V&A, Harvard University, and the royal exchange. in 2017/18 they became the youngest recipient of the artist in residence at the Tate galleries. Starring in theatre shows such as ‘Putting Words in Your Mouth’ (Roundhouse) and Jubilee (Royal Exchange, Lyric Hammersmith), their recent solo show Burgerz, sold out to rave reviews and was voted one of the top readers choice shows of 2018 in the Guardian. Their poetry book ‘Before I Step Outside (you love me)’ is a documentation of existing as a gender non conforming, racialised person in public space – and is currently stocked in 20 countries worldwide.
